We co-organised the largest international conference on nanomaterials research at EDI In total, scientists from 48 countries from around the world participated in the Dr Modris Greitans, Director of the Institute, opened the international conference “Nanomaterials: Applications &Properties“. As Honorary Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, he represented not only EDI but also the Latvian Academy of Sciences.

As M. Greitans mentions in the programme:

“This is a very important event for Latvian scientists, as Latvia has several strong institutions working in nanomaterials science – the Institute of Solid State Physics, the University of Latvia and RTU. I would like to say that the conference is important not only for nanomaterials scientists! Because the title of the conference includes two more words: applications and properties. At EDI, we look at these new materials as new opportunities to develop our research. For example, robotic systems, if these robots are coated with artificial skin that can sense touch and other new properties, this could improve the development of intelligent systems in general!”
