On July 1 EDI starts work in research consortium “Multidisciplinary approach to monitor, mitigate and contain COVID-19 and prevent other future epidemics in Latvia” (COV-MITIGATE), which will solve challenge 6.1. of the State Research Programme “Covid-19 mitigation” – to monitor and forecast the prevalence of Covid-19 and its influencing factors in Latvia, using epidemiological information, molecular data and modeling to reduce the spread of infection, timely identify and prevent new outbreaks, as well as increase preparedness for other similar outbreaks and seasonal Covid-19 , to carry out comprehensive epidemiological studies to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus in the external environment and in domestic animals affected by SARS-CoV-2 virus in order to understand the optimal safety measures to minimize the exposure of the environment and domestic animals further spread of the virus and to develop recommendations for controlling the infection, as well as to carry out studies to assess the development of collective immunity.
The leading partner of the Project is University of Latvia, Faculty of Medicine, and the team also consists of researchers from Latvian Biomedical Research Study Centre, Riga Stradiņš University, BIOR – institute of food safety, animal health and environment, Riga Technical University and Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies .
In this project EDI is responsible for sub-task of developing an innovative edge computing device capable of detecting inter-people distance in time dimension while preserving their privacy.
