From October 17 to 21, six EDI researchers and commercialization experts – Rihards Novickis, Eduards Lobanovs, Voldis Zujs, Krišjānis Nesenbergs, Kristina Oļševska, and Arnis Ermušs – took part in the largest technology networking conference “GITEX” in 2021 (Dubai, UAE), both in Latvian stand and participation with personalized stand in the “GITEX Future Stars” hall.
In total, more than 100 valuable contacts have been obtained from public authorities, private companies, and investors, as well as partners. These contacts are currently being identified and potential cooperation models are being negotiated. We were also honored to share our experience in smart sports technology and get valuable feedback from Reebok founder Joe Foster.
At GITEX we represented four EDI commercialization projects:
IIBS – smart concrete monitoring system designed to provide wireless communication between sensors that can monitor concrete structures and monitor the concrete hardening process, as well as end-user equipment, including a convenient graphical interface design and the ability to use the solution remotely via a cloud server.
SCAPE-IF – smart sportswear and app for personalized training. Such a solution will help trainers and physiotherapists to create workout plans more efficiently, conduct classes remotely, and track the progress of their clients. For clients or sports practitioners, on the other hand, have a deeper understanding of their workouts and their progress, based on real-time data on their body position, as well as, by integrating with other smart devices, get complete training information – how much kcal consumed, what heart rate has been, etc. performing the specific exercise. We are glad that we have also been noticed and included in the video review of the GITEX conference: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/dubai-world-trade-centre_the-supernova-challenge-2021-activity-6856882401872773120-6vn4 (00:26 -00: 27 and 1: 32-1: 33)
PAKS – smart automated level crossing monitoring system, which will ensure safe crossing at a railways level crossing, thus significantly reducing the possibility of accidents directly on the level crossing.
SILHOUSE – Silicon IP Design House. The objective of the project is to bring application-specific accelerator solutions to meet the current demand for high-performance, low latency, and power-
efficient computing while keeping the development time and costs to a minimum. The developed acceleration solutions consist of customized versions of our modular accelerator components, tailored to fit the specified requirements.

of a networking event.
By taking part in GITEX conference, we have gained valuable experience by observing the latest trends in global technologies and solutions of other companies, and thanks to active communication with the visitors of the exhibition, we have gained valuable insights on market needs to implement commercialization projects even more successfully.
