On January 23, EDI Director and leading researcher Modris Greitāns participated in the panel discussion “Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence: Synergy or Challenge?” organized by the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development. The event aimed to bring together experts from various fields to discuss the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting sustainable development.
As one of the leaders in technological and innovation development, EDI contributed to the discussion by sharing its experience and vision of how AI solutions can foster sustainable growth, optimize processes, and address global challenges. The conversation explored AI’s potential in tackling environmental, economic, and social issues, highlighting practical examples that already demonstrate its significance across various sectors. At the same time, it was emphasized that the successful implementation and application of AI will depend on developing it wisely and using it responsibly.
During the closing segment of the discussion, Modris Greitāns shared an important insight: “A sustainable country is one where natural intelligence surpasses artificial intelligence.”
EDI’s participation in the discussion reflects the institute’s commitment to being a leader in developing advanced technologies and ensuring their responsible use for the benefit of society and the environment.
