EDI participated in the annual general meeting of LETERA (Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association) members, which took place on 27 March at the premises of VAS “Elektroniskie sakari”, Eksporta iela 5, Riga. Following the approval of the association’s 2023 annual report and 2024 budget, the opportunities of the European Digital Innovation Hubs for entrepreneurs and the state support for the digitization of enterprises were presented. LETERA’s membership for 2023 already exceeded one hundred members.
The Latvian Minister of Economy, Viktors Valainis, was also invited nad the Deputy State Secretary, Raivis Bremšmits, presented the Ministry of Economy’s view on financing enterprise development. LETERA members had the opportunity to discuss their ideas and recommendations with the Minister of Economy.
Egils Bēriņš, representative of EDI, gave a brief overview of the international projects in which EDI participates. He also presented a new project aimed at developing research capacity and promoting research cooperation between Latvia and Switzerland in the fields of innovative materials, smart energy and information and communication technologies (ICT).
Egils Bēriņš also asked some questions to the Minister about Latvia’s energy sector and discussed some of the ways of obtaining alternative energy to replace fossil fuels, both in terms of wind farms and hydrogen production.
