The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) recently hosted the Director of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS), Dace Kārkle. During her visit, she met with EDI Director Modris Greitāns, Deputy Director for Development Kaspars Ozols, and Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs Iveta Rubika.
The meeting focused on several topics of mutual interest to both institutes, including exchanging experiences on institutional consolidation projects, implementing European Structural Fund co-financed projects, and other strategic activities. Particular attention was given to planned investments in modernizing research infrastructure, improving the efficiency of administrative processes, and enhancing systems for measuring and analyzing results. These factors are critical for improving the operational efficiency of scientific institutes and ensuring the transparency of achievements.
This exchange of ideas and experiences helped identify new approaches and solutions that could strengthen the institutes’ ability to adapt to administrative and technical challenges while utilizing available resources more effectively to achieve strategic goals. Discussions also covered ways to improve the management of scientific achievements and foster closer collaboration between scientific institutes in Latvia.
“Conversations like these allow us to share experiences and collaboratively search for solutions to enhance institutional efficiency. EDI is ready to learn from the experiences of other institutes and share its own knowledge,” noted EDI Director Modris Greitāns.
“Consolidation and integration of institutes are significant strategic steps, but it is equally important to focus on practical aspects such as improving infrastructure, optimizing administrative processes, and analyzing achievements. These steps help strengthen the competitiveness and efficiency of scientific institutes,” emphasized Dace Kārkle.
The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science continues fostering collaboration and sharing experiences with other scientific institutes to create innovative solutions and strengthen Latvian science’s global competitiveness.
