EDI komanda aizvadījusi jau otro veiksmīgo Junction (https://hackjunction.com/) “hakatonu” – pasākumu, kurā vairāk nekā 1000 tehnoloģiju prātu no visas pasaules ierodas Helsinkos, Somijā un sacenšas jaunu tehnoloģiju ideju izveidē vienas nedēļas nogales ietvaros.
EDI komandas projekts “zzzyield”, kas paredzēts veselīgu miega paradumu veidošanai izcīnīja galveno balvu “Miega” kategorijā no uzņēmuma “Ōura ring”, kā arī atzinību “Digitālo transformāciju” kategorijā no uzņēmuma Microsoft.

Vladimirs Aristovs, Rūdolfs Cīrulis, Valdemārs Plociņš participate in Invention and Innovation Exhibition MINOX 2016 in Ķīpsalas street 6, Design Centre of Riga Technical University with an invention “Remote life-sign (cardiac and respiratory movement) detection system”.
The Invention and Innovation Exhibition MINOX occurs already the 6-th time, during it there will be a possibility to get acquainted with the newest inventions and innovative solutions, to have face-to-face meetings with their authors and participate in various activities. The ones presenting their innovative projects will be individual inventors, leading research institutes and universities, innovative companies, and, of course, the young people and pupils as well.

Signal processing laboratory researcher Rolands Shavelis from August 29 to September 2 is participating in the European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2016) organized by the European Association for Signal Processing in Budapest, Hungary. During the poster session the poster “Amplitude Adaptive ASDM without Envelope Encoding” will be presented.
– From 25 to 29 July researcher Vadim Vedin participated in Eighth JUNO Collaboration Meeting held at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing and presented the EDI proposal for cooperation. The Institute proposes to address the measurement equipment synchronization issues in JUNO, using the high-precision time interval measurement technology developed in EDI;
– On the basis of this proposal, the JUNO Institutional Board has granted EDI an observer status in JUNO (see http://english.ihep.cas.cn/rs/fs/juno0815/PPjuno/201608/t20160817_166547.html; – JUNO (Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (see http://english.ihep.cas.cn/rs/fs/juno0815/) is an international project initiated by China for creation of observatory for neutrino studies. At present already 66 leading research organizations dealing with particle physics from all over the world are participating in this project.

Is complete ResearchSlam 2016 final, where this year among the seven finalists competed the EDI researcher – University student Krisjanis Nesenbergs. ResearchSlam is a competition for Master and Doctoral students, organized by the Riga Technical University Doctoral School with the aim to introduce the public with the research and scientific work carried out by young Latvian scientists in easily understandable, interesting and attractive way.

EDI, University of Latvia (Faculty of Computing) and Riga Technical University united team is going to participate in the great Cooperative Driving Challenge “Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge 2016 (GCDC)”, which will take place from 28 to 29 May in the Netherlands – A270 highway between Helmond and Eindhoven. In the event will compete 10 teams from 6 European countries (Spain, Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden and the Latvian) with vehicles equipped with additional sensors, accurate positioning systems, computers and wireless communication devices that competed with each other and showcasing the latest developments in vehicle automation.

On April 1 is cleared Imants Ziedonis Fund Award “Time for Ziedonis 2016” nominees in science. For this year nomination “Butterfly attack” claim 6 Latvian scientists who have achieved excellence in their research sector. Among them also EDI and University of Latvia senior researcher Leo Selavo. Winner will be announced in glorification ceremony on May 3, in Dzintari concert hall.
