Guntis reports that: “It was a pleasure to meet so many people from all the AIMS5.0 partner organizations, in person, and to hear about the many ways that diverse AI technologies are being applied to improve manufacturing and logistics processes across the EU. It was also a great opportunity for networking with other PhD students and researchers from other countries to identify shared interests potential collaborations”.
Guntis Strazds from EDI presented an update on the work that has been done during the past year at EDI together with contributors Christos Chronis from Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) and Gergely Hollósi from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) for Use Case 6 “Reconfigurable AI-based automated conveyer feeding by a robotic system”. The objective of UC6 is to develop an AI-based robotic system for automated conveyer feeding for organic cosmetics products. This use case is run by EDI and HUA, with the goal of increasing productivity, efficiency, and product quality. AI-enhanced robotic lines will ensure more sustainable, high throughput operation that would not be disrupted by human factors such as illness, tiredness or lack of attention during repetitive and monotonous tasks. The resulting cost savings could be reallocated to provide jobs that produce greater business value, and that are less monotonous and thus more rewarding.
